Sol Jacobsen
Seasons come and seasons go but you will always find Sol Jacobson's name on the leader boards of Ocean Hills CC and ShadowRidge CC.
As
recently as 2003 Sol won the President's Cup Championship at ShadowRidge CC.
In 2005 at age 83 he was the proud runner up of the same event. He is a consistent
winner in OHGC tournaments, and is always willing to work in some capacity.
He was chairman of the Greens Committee for 3 years. Sol has been chairman of Men's Day tournaments since 2003.He has been playing golf for over 50 years. In 1964 he was City Amateur Champion of Utica, New York. 1962-65 he qualified for Amateur Championships in the state of N.Y. During this period of time he was Club Champion of Higby Hills CC in Utica, N.Y.
He played exhibition tournaments with many famous golfers, including Sam Snead, Lee Trevino, Ken Venturi and JoAnne Carner.
Sol enjoys teaching golf to residents that want to improve their game. Teaching allows him to transfer his enjoyment of the sport to the student and at the same time to improve his own game. He conducts a very successful golf clinic every Thursday at 9:15am at the Olympic Resort Driving Range at the corner of El Camino and Palomar Airport Rd. in Carlsbad.
